Rick Perry, the head of my state, has found it in his infinate wisdom to sign a few bills into law at a religious establishment. I'm assuming it's supposed to be symbolic, but if that's what he's really looking for what a blatant slap to the 1st Amendment. Then again, this Republican has never been true to the Constitution, has he? Pander to the Christian folk than to our rights.

The apartment people still have not sent the carpet cleaners!!!!!! It's amazing how much junk you can have on the floor, and you don't really realize it until you have to pick it up day in and day out. Hopefully today will be the last day. I'm placing bets.
I have so much to do today. There's the customary 50 questions, and then a ton of other stuff too. The BarBri books are huge, and I can picture myself lugging them around. The word is picture, not lifting. I'm puny.

Nine Inch Nails has canceled their appearance on the upcoming MTV Movie Awards. They were reportedly upset when the network decided that the display of an image of our beloved Presidente while they played would be uncomfortable. What's more uncomfortable, a harmless image of Bush, or a song titled "The Hand that Feeds?"
Next on the agenda, bleeping criticism of the president on tv. Just you wait.

I'm almost there. Maybe by tomorrow? Anyway, the lucky person to hit number 33,000 gets to ask me anything! Just try not to be pornographic...

Here we go again.
So Sith was leaked online a few days ago by someone on the inside, ie. the studio did it. This of course cause a chain reaction, and now there are a bunch of idiots out there downloading the movie, or actually selling it. Have I mentioned I'm completely and utterely against the selling?
In the meantime it looks like Sith will make back its money and tons more. Seriously, the whole spiel about "pirating breaks the movie industry" makes me want to dig out the violin from storage and play some depressing song. Oh, wait. I can't play the violin.
Now the MPAA has released an "official" statement. Yes, bittorrent is evil. It's p2p. It makes people steal. It must be destroyed! Rowr!! Etc, etc, etc.
People steal, not software. Next.

It's rather depressing when the top cover story for the majority of the entertainment news shows is the wedding of the sex offender to her victim.
What's next? A game show played by terrorists competing for a bid to bomb the next US target?

...ya know!
Throw fair use out the window. If a dvd dies (::sob:: Disc 2 of my Firefly set is getting there), I can't just make a copy. I have to spend another $40 to replace my much beloved copy of that wonderful Joss Whedon series.
But see, I've been a bad, bad woman. I've succesfully converted three people in the last week into Browncoats. They've come over to watch the series with me. I've also let friends borrow my set, and much converting has progressed from this point. Did I say borrow? Yes, I did. If I were to convert this to technological lingo, I could say it was filesharing. How do I know that the people that borrowed my box set didn't have the capacity to burn dvds? I was just sharing, and they loved it. Oh, and they did go and buy the Firefly dvds themselves, and Browncoats will eventually control the universe.
The point is, fair use leads to word of mouth and a whole lot of other goodies.
So, it's rather hysterical to read an article such as the one in today's "Wired" that basically says that future dvds and players will need my fingerprint before I can play them. Really, why not label all of us criminals all ready. Or better yet, the day the movie association accepts such a ludicrous drm scheme, that will be the day internet pirating will truely become a problem. It just won't work.

I am completely against downloading movies. You hate spending 10 bucks for mindless drivel? Don't see it. Better yet, rent it. Netflix offers a great deal. For the good movies, it's worth every dollar. I don't support the MPAA's fear campaign because I think they're doing it for all the wrong reasons. They fear technology, and come on, they're greedy little bastards. We live in a capitalistic society. What else would you expect?
Now they need to go down. They're starting to sue torrent trackers listing television shows. Miss the season finale of CSI? Oops, that tracker is gone thanks to the MPAA, and you have to wait till you can catch it on repeat, or till you have the $50 to buy the season on DVD.
The Court of Appeals just ruled that the FCC overstepped its bounds when it tried to impose a digital broadcast flag on all electronic devices starting in July. This would have prevented you, or me from recording shows from our tv sets. Digital recordings to be more exact. We can make copies with a VCR, but now that everything is digital, ohh watch out! Innovations in technology is public enemy #1 to the RIAA/MPAA.
Now that the Court has overruled the FCC, it was only a matter of time before the entertainment industry would do something. Unfortunately, they're only going to be alienating their fans. Going after the tracker sites is a stupid idea. This is the future, but since when do the MPAA think.

I am loving the review course. Of course I'm bombing the questions, but it's PMBR, so there's no stress. The only downside is the three hours straight of note taking. I've found myself utterly jealous of everyone with a laptop in that class while I'm struggling to keep up, finger muscles screaming that they can not handle another minute. Property is tomorrow. My right hand won't make it!!
At least I know I can still write.
All the graduating 3Ls are so nervous. They're panicking about grades, and I saw a few of them online checking ATROX. We did not have this two years ago. These soon to be grads have been spoiled! All we had was solitaire or whatever game was on a laptop to amuse ourselves, or if you were me, the queen of staring off into space. I hated having to ask for help in getting my laptop in and out of its bag.
Now, now the classrooms have wireless. The buildings are accessible but the automatic buttons are in the wrong places in a few spots. The PMBR was praising San Antonio and dissing Dallas. This is a sign that the summer is going to be weird.
