I just scored 90% on a round of Constitutional Law questions. My score may go down next week. My scores have been pittiful the last few days! I need to revel in this. I can accept that I might not master Contracts and Property, but I really need the other subjects. I'm going to fraking gloat.

It spread from a text message to the net. Suddenly, Anna was dead. I had never logged on to the internet to confirm something as I did with this, and wow will this be an interesting legal battle.
Anyway, I'm not dead. I'm trying not to get sick, but my allergies are trying to kill me. It's not cool. And suddenly blogging isn't as fun when impending doom is right around the corner.

Today is turning out to be a really sucky day! I wish I could read some people, and I hate that some people know how to push my buttons. That little fact riles me.
Some things happen for a reason. I know that this one was meant to be. I still hate that it bugs me to no end. Stupid stupidness.

A few months ago I saw this very long trailer that used music by Enya. It was the song, "Book of Days," which was the theme song for the movie,Far and Away. The song and trailer were so, so, companions. Actually, it was rather long, but it got the point across. This was a movie set in the times of Kings, and there was romance. Oh, and Peter O'Toole and James Callis had roles in the movie that just happened to be based on the Book of Esther. Sign me up!
The movie, One Night with the King, is based on a novel adaptation of the Book of Esther, and one of the first things it has going for it is its production values. It doesn't look cheap. Rather, every scene is rich with detail and color and extras, and it really adds to the movie. But who cares about costumes when James Callis as Haron is chewing up lines and spitting them out like nothing. Seriously, BSG is probably more challenging, but his acting really elevated the movie because the actor playing the King needed lessons.
As the story goes, and it was slightly convoluted, the King "loses" his wife, so he searches for a new one. Women are rounded up from around Persia and the surrounding areas. Among them is Esther, a Jew, who hides her identity in order to save her life. She finds favor with the King, and soon becomes the new Queen until her past comes back to haunt her.
The actress who plays Esther is amazing. She brings depth to the character and spunk, both which are necessary when compared to the King who can't decide what he wants to be besides eye candy. Yes, eye candy. Actor Luke Goss spends much of the movie shirtless, and he has the prettiest eyes, but he was the worst King. He acted like a child King! His bare chest was the only redeeming quality, and even then that's only slight.
The movie as a whole was amazing. It didn't preach, and if there is one thing I respect in a film is that it gets its message across in a subtle way. This is no Passion of the Christ, nor is it a Sunday School cartoon. It's a simple story with romance and adversity, and sometimes that's enough.

Joss Whedon will not be doing Wonder Woman. Dude! So not cool. He broke the news on Whedonesque, and well, here's hopeing that he'll have time for Goners and tv, which he seems to hint at.
Via Lisa at Dark Isles.
Now I must go show the Joss love at Whedonesque.... Did I mention that now would be an excellent time for another Serenity movie?

Gov. Perry just signed an executive order that would require all girls be vaccinated with the HPV vaccine starting in 2008.

Perry sidestepped opposition in the Legislature from conservatives and parents’ rights groups who fear such a requirement would condone premarital sex and interfere with the way Texans raise their children.
Beginning in September 2008, girls entering the sixth grade — meaning, generally, girls ages 11 and 12 — will have to receive Gardasil, Merck & Co.’s new vaccine against strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV.
Perry also directed state health authorities to make the vaccine available free to girls 9 to 18 who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover vaccines. In addition, he ordered that Medicaid offer Gardasil to women ages 19 to 21.

Was it Merck, or was it common sense? Texas becomes the first state to make the vaccine mandatory, and this type of news just blows me away. I'm also waiting to hear news of a lawsuit because some parent some where is going to claim that the vaccine is going to make their child sexually active.
Oy Vey.
So, cheers to Texas.

If you're here, it's because you found me via Brendan Loy's Blawg. I hereby promise not to spoil the new Harry Potter book if you happen to stumble across my site. There will be no mention of it for three days following the July Bar Exam. I can't promise waiting any longer than that.
Good luck to all you summer test takers.

hearsay-is-killing-me

Some how I am slowly dominating Evidence and Criminal Law. Constitutional Law is slowly getting there, and I still have hope for Property and Contracts. I apparently seem to lose brain cells on Torts. I don't know how. I just do. Somewhere between intent offenses and negligence offenses my brain just decides to shutdown and my score goes with it. See ya. Wouldn't want to be ya.
So today I'm doing intermediate questions in Evidence, and I'm rocking mucho booty. We're talking %70, but the hearsay monster strikes again. My Evidence professor's voice sneaks into my head, and I vaguely remember him saying that there were two sections in the class that would always be difficult. Character Evidence, which I'm proud to say I have dominated (I hope), and stupid hearsay.
As much as I hate to admit it, I'm going to have to physically map this sucker out, and hopefully then I can see it.

"She was dressed as a cylon and you knew her as 6?"
So far this is the best line from Veronica Mars tonight. But wait! It's not over yet.
I love how this show promotes the Battlestar love. Speaking of, Sunday's episode had to have been one of the best. I need to catch the repeat so I can hear the creepy lullaby again, but kudos to James Callais.

We, as members of the class action lawsuit against BAR/BRI, have survived summary judgment, and the defendants failed to get all the claims dismissed against them. Like I care. Actually, I was just bothered by the way the administration at my school was so dead set on convincing us that we were going to fail if we didn't take BAR/BRI. It was do or die.

Tying is an agreement to sell one product on the condition that the buyer purchase a different, or tied, product. Park claims BAR/BRI violated federal law because it allegedly forced prospective lawyers to buy not only BAR/BRI's preparatory materials for the multistate bar exam, but also prep materials for the buyer's particular state exam.
The defendants argue there was no unlawful tying because the BAR/BRI course is a single, functionally integrated package of services. Park counters that multistate materials and state-specific materials are separate products. He contends he, as a law student in 2002, had to purchase both.

Reading the claims makes this much more interesting, especially since I haven't looked at this case since I received my piece of paper as an honorary member of the class. But the arguments are fascinating and true. Micromash has all its programs divided. MBE, essays, or both? PMBR, which recently lost a copyright lawsuit, only offers an MBE prep course. BAR/BRI is an all or nothing course, and the lectures aren't even live in some cities (San Antonio, for one but thankfully some profs stepped in on some days). It's $2000 for some good materials and some bad.
Needless to say, I'm looking forward to the outcome of this case.
