Friday 5

Ya know, I was utterly baffled when I saw the Five start showing up all over the place, especially since it was discontinued months and months ago. Apparently, a livejournal community has revived it.

1. If you could have anything you wanted to eat for a day, what would you choose for your meals and snacks? It depends. Am I guaranteed not to get sick of it for that one day? If so, then I would say candy corn.

2. Is there ever a dish/food or dessert you wanted to try but never had the opportunity, what is it? It's an Indian dish called paan, I think. I heard about it on Boing Boing, and it sounded interesting.

3. What's a dish/food or dessert you've tried that you wish you hadn't? Too many to count? Perhaps airline food is a given, but on a trip back from London we were fed lamb with green jelly, and needless to say I'm never touching the stuff again.

4. Ever watch cooking shows? (i.e. "Great Chefs," "Epicurious," etc.) When I had cable I would watch Emeril. It's all about the "Bam" baybee!

5. Are you hungry yet? I should be, but the jelly sandwich isn't calling me as strongly as it could. I'd rather have tortilla soup.

It's a day late, but better late than never. The Friday Five

1. Explain why you started to journal/blog.
It originally started as a journal, and then I decided to have a writing blog of sorts, devoted purely to my writing. Eventually it just turned into this, and I can't imagine giving it up.

2. Do people you interact with day to day or family members know about your journal/blog? Why or why not?
I try not to advertise it, especially to my family. They'd freak if they found out how much of a liberal I am. Either that or the occasional potty mouth I have developed over the years that tends to rear its ugly head in a few of my entries. Hey, it's good to be colorful. I have told a few friends from real life, and I know they read it.

3. Do you have a theme for your journal/blog?
Like I said, it was originally intended for my writing experiments, but it morphed into something bigger. When I feel like it, I try to make each and every post an artistic endeavor. It doesn't mean I'm always successful.

4. What direction would you like to have your journal/blog go in over the next year?
I'm not sure I want to post anymore of my poetry or short fiction here, but I'd like to keep the rest the same. Maybe have a little bit more on social commentary and the law. Then again my blog wouldn't be the same without my Buffy/Angel/Faith ravings. A girl's got to have her obsessions. Next time on Oprah: Buffy addicts change the world.... by dominating it and renaming Washington DC to The Hellmouth.

5. Pimp five of your favorite journals/blogs.
Now see, that wouldn't be fair. I can't categorize them from best to worst. The list is on the right and they're all my favorites.

Ok, it's the Friday Five. I haven't done this in a while, so I guess I could do this.

1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/heroine? Why? Wonder Woman. I always liked her bracelets, and I thought it was cool that she was Greek and related to the gods and goddesses.

2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got? The ability to walk? I mean I can walk on my knees, but I always thought life would be better if I could walk like a regular person. Then I wouldn't look different. At least that's what I wanted as a kid.

3. What's the furthest from home you've been? Rome, Italy. That was my graduation present, and this summer it may be further, assuming my knowledge of geography is correct.

4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet? A third language. I know bits and pieces of a few languages, but I would love to be trilingual. One of these days I'll pick up German again and learn it well this time. Sprechen sie Deutsch?

5. What are your plans for the weekend? Get ahold of J and work on mock trial stuff. Actually do work. At least do the readings for the week so I can devote my free time to mock. Find witnesses. Learn techniques to kill stress. The competition is on Wednsday and Thursday, and whomever breaks goes on to semifinals that next Monday and Tuesday. I would love to break, except I have class on both those evenings, and thanks to the draconian absence policy of the school, BOA is going to have to work around it if I break. I wanna break!!!

The Friday Five

1. Do you wear any jewelry? What kind? Four gold earrings, a watch, my Notre Dame class ring on my left hand, and a necklace with a cross at the end.

2. How often do you wear it? Um, I never take them off.

3. Do you have any piercings? If so, where? I have four piercings, two in each ear. I used to have a fifth, which was in the cartilege area, but I took it out once briefly and was never able to put it back in. One of these days I'll get it done again.

4. Do you have any tattoos? If so, where? No, but I'd like one.

5. What are your plans for the weekend? Tomorrow I hope to be able to see a bunch of movies! Chicago is actually here. My jaw literally dropped when I saw that. Catch Me if You Can and El Crimen del Padre Amaro are also on my list. Then I fly back to school on Sunday.

Last week's friday five.
