The Supreme Court has refused a cyber case that would determine the jurisdiction of the website. Basically, as it stands, the owners of the site are being forced to defend against the lawsuit in Washington state instead of Colorado where they are based.

Walmart sued for sexual harrassment. Plaintiffs in the case are seeking to gain class action status.

I'm at 1754 words. I'm assuming it has to be a total of 4000 since it's a 15 page paper. The writing requirement is 6000 words, but I don't need to do that. I'm tired!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't cracked open an outline yet for DTPA. Perhaps I'll learn it tonight by osmosis. You know, put it under my pillow and hope the rules of law seep into my skin and memory.

April 27, 2003

Spent most of the day studying for DTPA and pretending to write my paper. Papers should just write themselves even if it is just 15 pages. I just can't bring myself to write it.

The weekend was pretty much calm. I worked on Race and Racism on Saturday, and that was pretty much it.

Friday, Friday was amazing. It was fantastic. I met Dallion and his girl who was really nice. Oh, and did I mention? I saw Tori Amos.

The concert was by far the most memorable. I was about ten rows from the stage on the far right side. I was afraid it would be a standing concert, and that I wouldn't be able to see because of it, but it wasn't. Everyone stood when she walked on stage, but then sat down when she sat at her piano and started playing "A Sorta Fairytale."

She is a goddess.

Her voice sounds exactly the way it does on her cds, and she's just an amazing musician. I loved the way she'd switch between pianos, or the way she'd play two at a time. Her posture, her movements, her singing. It was just wonderful. I'm such a dork. I cried when she started playing, and tears threatened to spring up again when she played "Precious Things." Yes, she played that song. I was exstatic! That and "Cornflake Girl," but nothing compares to "Precious Things."

Of course, listening to the live album just doesn't do it for me anymore. I'm amused.

And I ended up being $35 poorer after buying the cutest t-shirt. But, it was so worth it.

April 24, 2003

Buffy makes fun of Christianity. Ugh, my sides hurt from laughing. This is just hysterical. Seriously, why would you be watching Buffy in the first place? These are probably the same people who think the Harry Potter books will turn their children towards witchcraft.

Well, it's official. I had my last law school class today. No more seminars. No more lectures. No more tyrannical practices of the socratic method on unsuspecting students (or in my case, unprepared. oops). No more school! No more class!

In three weeks I'll be graduating.

April 23, 2003

Angel is most likely renewed! Thank you!! ::bounce:: And here I thought I wasn't going to ever again get my Whedon fix. That and Spike will be joining the cast as well as some of the awesome writers from Buffyand Firefly. Please say this includes Drew Goddard.

This has just totally made my day.

April 22, 2003

I miss me. I miss having time for myself. And though I am procrastinating, it is no where near the kind I used to practice in college. Methinks law school has killed my procrastinating creative streak.

Example: I have this treaty analysis that is due next Thursday. The old me would start working on it next Tuesday, assuming I'm feeling well with no aches and pains and I'm bored to death. The new me, I'm almost done with it.

Of course there is a rational explanation for my nerdiness. My copyright paper is due the day after the treaty analysis. To date I've only written two pages of a fifteen to twenty page paper. Oh, and I have three finals next week. DTPA and Race and Racism on the same day (Wednsday) and International Human Rights Law the next day. The same day the analysis is due.

Yazzy is not stupid. No. But I miss procrastinating, like now. Except it's not real because if it were real I'd probably be doing something creative like making webpages or writing. The most kick ass challenges are up and I haven't tried a single one. Bloody hell.

I should write an ode. Woe is me and all that jazz.

April 21, 2003

This case makes me ill, especially with the strategy the defense plans to use. Since when is sex consensual with a 13 yr old child with an IQ of 65?

April 20, 2003

I'm alive, not dead. Just very unmotivated, which doesn't make sense seeing as I'm half way done with the treaty analysis, and it isn't even due till the day of the final. I want to turn it in on the last day of class.

Of course, I haven't touched the copyright paper in almost a week. Convenient, I know. I do want to at least add to it this week since I know it's not due till the day of the final, which I don't have to take since I'm writing the paper. Again, I've been unmotivated.

I have three movies waiting to be watched, and I haven't seen them. What is wrong with me?

And for the record, the first week of finals is going to be a killer. Two on one day, and the third the very next day with the paper due the day after that. My last final isn't until the week after. Med Mal, it should be a piece of cake! ::cough, cough:: What I wouldn't give for a semester of just Bs and As. And anyone who thinks that my aspiring to a B is wrong needs to get a life and mind their own business. I am so sick and tired of reading the blogs by people bemoaning the fact that they got a B. Boo-hoo. Anyone in my school would kill for that letter grade. Unlike you, we don't have a B mean. We have a C+ mean. Yes, half of us are guaranteed a C+. It's rather sad, and hence why you'll never get my sympathy for getting a lousy B. After all if it comes down to my resume or yours, you'll get the job.

No sympathy what so ever.

Though, a lawyer from town did say that I may become a commodity because of everything I have going for me. Yes, being disABLED does cause the word 'special' to be tattoed to my forehead. Mind helping me walk instead? Or even better, give me the ability to get out of bed on my own. Now that's special.

Really, I'm not bitter. I've just amused myself with my own banter.

April 17, 2003

Stop the presses. There's a new private entry.

Edited to add: My mailing lists are down so if you know someone on the list, let them know.

Madonna has joined the spoofing parade. Thanks for the heads up. I'll just wait until after the record has been released to download the real files, assuming they're worth listening to, which I doubt.

The FTC has stepped up the fight against spam. It only took 46,000 emails.

April 15, 2003

OMG!!!!!!!!! That made me cry. Poor Xander. That's just not cool. It's not. What the hell is Whedon and Co. doing. Oy, this is just not cool. The episode was brilliant, and much to my chagrin it proves that no one is safe.

Much screaming has just ensued. And there are still ten minutes left on Buffy.

Sex sells but Puma doesn't like it. At least that's what it claims by sending out Cease and Desist letters to bloggers asking them to remove a questionable picture.

April 14, 2003

I'm miserable, but hopefully that will change soon. Why am I miserable? Well last week's prediction came true. I did get a migraine Saturday night at the Barrister's Ball, and I'm still dealing with it. It's my fault. I should have taken the meds this morning even though I felt fine, but I didn't. Then I sang in choir and the pain came back. Now I'm really trying not to throw up. (Too much information, I know). Oy, I'm really nauseous. I hate this.

One good thing has come out of this. I finally started my copyright paper. I have a goal for tonight, but it's not even a stated goal because I never fulfill them. Ok, I'm lying. I would like five pages, but seeing as my stomach and my head are not cooperating, I'll be happy with one page. Actually I'm happy I started.

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.” — Theodore Roosevelt.

April 10, 2003

The new Matrix trailer is ONLINE NOW. It looks so cool! It's just, oh wow, I'm going to see this opening day. I don't care if I have to buy tickets ahead of time. I'm so there.

I meant to blog about this yesterday, but I forgot. The email was specifically directed to me, which surprised me. I'm not sure if I'll try it. I did tell F. about it who said I should go for it and he'd tape it. We shall see. I want to send him the email and see what he thinks. It's rather amusing because when I spoke to him yesterday he told me he was in LA and a bunch of people he met there were trying to convince him to become an agent. I think he would be good at it, and it cracked me up when he said he'd be my agent if I do the blog thing.

That does make three people I know who have received the email.

April 9, 2003

I think the preview for next weekend's episode ellicited more screams from my friend and I than anything else in tonight's episode of Angel. That's not to say that what we watched was any less entertaining.

Kudos to team Whedon. That's three episodes I've enjoyed immensly, though I think the Gunn-centric one has to be my favorite of the season.

What I liked

This episode was just erie. You expect Jasmine (damn it, that's a good person's name not a bad one) to appear and act like something evil almost immediately, and when the opposite happens, it still screams 'evil' anyway. It's the 'too good to be true' feeling, especially when Connor freely called Angel dad. It reminded me much of Angel's dream where everything fixed itself. Something just didn't vibe, and in this episode it was much more apparent.

Later in the episode the facade begins to crack, and I jumped when Fred was shown what Jasmine really looks like. It was just downright gross and freaky. I wonder, once everyone sees through the facade, will this be the appearance of the Beastmaster, or is it another disguise? And how is it that Fred was suddenly able to see this other self?

Another interesting thing, Jasmine's touch transforms humans into demons. I could be wrong, but it certainly didn't look like the guy, who also saw the truth, was slowly being disfigured. Will he become a full-fledged demon as a form of punishment? It's interesting that Jasmine has this power.

I also liked how the whole conception of Connor was explained, sorta. I'm sure there's more to it than what Jasmine said. It was just intriguing to hear it mentioned. Also interesting was the way Jasmine was playing Connor. Could this be forshadowing?

There's not much to be said about the cast since they were for the most part acting as blind disciples. I did like Fred in this as well as her quirkiness. She has always been an interesting character.

What I didn't like

For some reason the episode seemed a little recycled ideawise. It reminded me too much of Glory even though Jasmine is no way like her. The parallels to the psychiatry ward just bothered me a little. Same with the fact that once the guy saw through Jasmine he felt it was his calling to kill her. How so? Maybe Jasmine is from the same dimension as Glory?

Oh yeah, it doesn't help that tonight's episode is a two parter, and I'm still shocked by what I saw in the previews.

The Fiesta Farewell was today, and it finally hit me. In about a month's time I will be graduating from law school (hopefully). It was hard to believe, but now it's a reality. Standing there on the rafters next to my fellow 3Ls as they took our picture, it seemed rather surreal. The wind was blowing, many of us held margaritas, and by the time they took the Section C picture it felt like we were 1Ls for one brief moment standing for a retake. Almost everyone was there, including those who had graduated last semester, and it was so nice to see them all again. Afterall, we were Section C, the roudiest section of 1Ls that year, and the most memorable of the last few years. And among those standing were friends and companions, people I hope I never lose touch with no matter where I end up in life.

Oh my goodness, I'm graduating!! No more school. No more homework assignments. No more roll sheets to sign as proof that I attended class. Sheesh. Oh yeah, and no more Dean P.!! Let the celebration begin on May 17th.

April 8, 2003

So I'm sitting here pretending to write my paper while chatting with Katie and watching Roswell, when suddenly out of the blue Sci-fi advertises a new show. It's Roar, and of course I'm amused because I remember watching that the summer before my sophomore year. And the star of the series, a young Heath Ledger.

April 6, 2003

Oh my god, straight from the rumor mill. Watase Yuu is planning a full fledged sequel to Fushigi Yuugi called Genbu Kaiden. I'm wondering if it will deal with the Genbu Seishi and their Miko that were introduced briefly in the later part of the FY series. That could be interesting if it's true.

I'm just weary of sequels for FY. Though I did enjoy the last two OVAs, they just weren't as good as the actual series.

morality

In Utah the court has decided that it has no authority to fire a teacher soley because of her sexuality. Only the school board has this authority if it finds that the teacher is immoral.

I still have yet to see signs of life from him. Excuse me while I go mad!

Yesterday was an adventure. Katie and I took the bus yesterday to downtown, and hence I did no work. Forget the fact that I have the copyright paper looming over my head like a banshee about to scream some much unwanted sense into my poor, yet to be crammed head! But that's besides the point.

I had a blast. The day was nice, and there weren't that many people at the Rivercenter Mall. At least not until we attempted to make that mad dash to the IMAX theater, and it just seemed like everyone in the mall was suffering from drunkeness from their slow laborious walk! Seriously, when you see a scooter zooming your way, that's a clue to move out of the way like normal ignorant people and not stand there and look amused. That's only reserved for people like me.

Hmm, perhaps today is the best day to write...

We ended up watching What a Girl Wants, which was just cute in that good way, though I was afraid I'd have to get an empty cup for Katie after I saw the looks she was giving to Colin Firth. Not that I blame her. We also saw The Lion King at the IMAX, which was just amazing. It's a good movie for that kind of screen. It would have been better had it been just the two of us there though, that way I could have sung along. I'm a dork that way.

We did do a little shopping. Two of the blouses I bought don't fit right, and growing bigger breasts won't help. I also left with the new Evanescence cd and the Chicago soundtrack. Now I just need to rip them both so I can play them on my laptop, and share them on Kazaa to spite the RIAA. That's what they get for spoofing things, seriously. I like to test music pain free before spending a dime, without the buggy noises that leave you with a nasty headache! Persistance is a virtue afterall.

April 4, 2003

I invite everyone to watch this series, The Ghosts of Albion, written by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden. It's actually quite interesting, and episode 2 is out so that's a plus. You need Flash or Realplayer to view it.

The RIAA is suing students for file sharing. I'm wondering how the RIAA got into the private networks, unless the schools granted them that access. It is rather funny that they're suing for that much money. Money a college student obviously doesn't have.

RIP Miracles. I think I kinda expected it seeing as they kept pre-empting the show, but it still annoys me. I like ABC less for it now.

More Angel/Buffy news at Dark Horizons reports that James Marsters will go over to Angel if it's renewed for its fifth season, and that Anthony Stewart Head has shown interest as well. Giles and Spike on the show, excuse me while I bounce around and off the walls. I know they're changing Angel in order to open it to first time viewers. I just hope they don't screw things up.

The report also hints more at what might happen when Buffy and Angel reunite at the end of this season. I want to know. I really do, but damn it, I'm determined to stay spoiler free even if I do know what happens to Xander.

April 2, 2003

I'm worried sick about you, and though I know I could just send you a message to say this, it doesn't get rid of the fear. There's no guarantee even that I'll hear from you until you're well, and honestly that's not enough because we both know I'm impatient. Predictably so. I want, no, I need to know you're alright.

I miss you, and I think I'll msg you now and hope. Please be ok.

I don't think I've ever been more embarassed to be a part of the SBA as I am now.

April 1, 2003

Who the hell dressed the guest celebrity on American Idol????? Someone needs to remind him that even though it's disco night, there's a reason those clothes are no longer in fashion. I thought he was a woman!

And I was not impressed with Ruben's performance. The judges loved it, but it sounded way to karioke (that is so not spelled right). Kimberly Locke just finished singing, and though she started a little off, she sounded awesome.

Trigun premiered last night on Cartoon Network. I think I'm going to like it. I just need to remember to tape it because I need to sleep, and staying up till 11:30 is not an option especially since I tend to get suckered into watching Inuyasha, which I've already seen.

This is baffling. Why would anyone use that kind of language in school or on applications. Don't they know the difference? The other day I read an article where professors were receiving papers composed with internet speak, and it makes me wonder what these students are thinking. Maybe they're not thinking. I realize high school is torture, and that grammar is awful to learn, but there is a reason why it's taught.
